On 3rd December 1947 Messrs. Lambert & Symes conducted a sale at the Carlton Café, Tonbridge, which included a block of 4 superior cottages adjoining the Alders Inn (now the Dovecote), Alders Road, Capel, producing an annual rental value of £68 18s 0d (about £2,800 today).
